Us regional banks are where the money is

FactSet

In 2016, both the Brexit vote in the U.K. and the election of Donald Trump in the U.S. have had wide-reaching implications. One of the biggest common threads is that people, politicians and businesses around the world seem to be more domestically focused.
Accordingly, investors should find big opportunities in 2017 among the shares of U.S. regional banks. True, there is a lot to be skeptical about regarding the financial sector. That’s perhaps illustrated most clearly in the recent misbehaviors of Wells Fargo & Co. WFC, -0.11%   — and there is evidence that the practice of opening phony accounts is a much wider problem at megacap financial institutions.
